NORTHLAND ROSE SHOW

The Northland rose . show, which was held at St. Anno's Hall, Northland, on Saturday afternoon and ■ evening, was officially opened by Mrs. Peter JFraser, who complimented the exhibitors and the society on the excellent display. Despite the unfavourable season, the quality of the roses was up to the average, and the ladies' decorative work and the cut flowers were outstanding. The school work was up to its usual high standard. The prize list is as follows:— Roses (open classes). —T. Lane, 3 firsts, 3 seconds; W. D. Rough, 2 firsts, 2 seconds, 1 third; R. M. Porteous,. 4 firsts, 2 seconds, 1 third; P. K. Porteous. 1 first;. Mr. Johnstone, 1 first; Mrs. De Blois, 1 second. Champion rose bloom, P. K. Porteous. R. M. Porteous was the winner of the Porteous Trophy for most points in the rose classes. Western Suburbs (amateur).—Mrs. Blackmore, 3 firsts; Mr. C. McKavanagh, 1 second. Western Suburbs (novice). —Mrs. O'Callaghan, 1 first; C. McKavanagh. 1 second; Mrs. E. 3. Sleeth, 1 first; Miss Romaine Wright, 1 third.
