AFTERNOON PARTY

WORTHY CAUSE BENEFITS

About eighty guests attended a delightful reception held at the residence of the Hon. H. G. R. Mason and Mrs. Mason, Hobson Street, yesterday afternoon, and arranged by the president and committee of the Wellington Society for the Protection of Women and Children (Inc.).

Roses and rhododendrons were arranged in the reception rooms, and the gardens, bright with flowers and sunshine, were an added attraction to the guests, who were received by Mrs. John O'Shea, president of the society. Mrs. O'Shea was wearing a navy and white figured silk costume and navy hat, and Mrs. Mason's ensemble was of navy silk.

Competitions and darts, for which prizes were awarded, and a Gipsy den, arranged in an alcove of the hall, were popular entertainments. Afternoon tea was also served from a long refectory table in the dining-room.

Mrs. Mason, who presented the prizes to the successful competitors, was thanked by Mrs. O'Shea for so generously lending her home for the occasion. The proceeds resulting from the party would supplement the society's funds.
