KING'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

PATRIOTIC BALL AT THE

HUTT

(From "The Post's" Representative.)

Held by the Hutt Valley Youth Patriotic Campaign under the auspices of the Lower Hutt Patriotic Committee, the King's Birthday Ball in the large Horticultural Hall last night was a particularly happy and successful occasion. Elaborate decorations of red, white, and blue, patriotic- airs, and marching songs, and the festive holiday spirit abroad contributed their quota towards this cheery celebration. An excellent dance band kept the dancers on their toes throughout the evening and an attractive interlude was provided by the pupils of Miss Marjorie Newport, who presented a gaily-costumed rhythmic tap ballet. The preparation of the delicious home-made supper was in the hands of the senior committee ladies, while its serving and the general organisation of the ball was carried out by the Youth Patriotic Campaign.

The executive of the Lower Hutt Patriotic Committee comprised Mr. J. W. Andrews (Mayor and chairman of the committee), Mr. A. J. Gearing (secretary), Mesdames J. W. Andrews, Walter Nash, J. Mitchell, J. E. F. Vogel, G. Savage, Misses M. Mussen and A. M. Jones (Youth Patriotic Campaign representatives), and Messrs. C. J. Ashton, R. E. Munday, W. Gregory, H. M. Ibell, W. R. Robson, S. Frickleton, and E. H. F. Muir. (chairman of the Youth Patriotic Campaign). The junior committee'members also included Miss M. Mussen (secretary), Mr. D. Poole (treasurer), Mrs. E. Muir, the Misses R. and B. Jones, A. Robins, M. Beattie, M. Adamson, E. Sullivan, J. Roberts, M. Ogilvie, M. Codling, and P. Milne, and Messrs. J. Davies, K. Carroll, K. Williams, W. Roberts, R.
