BRUNNER COLLIERIES LOSS

Brunner Collieries, Limited, reports for the year ended June 30 that "operations for the year have proved very disappointing, resulting, after providing £1496 5s debenture interest and £1707. 12s Id for depreciation, in a loss of £13;019 18s 7d, which has been transferred to profit and .loss appropriation account. Last year the loss was £6724 7s 3d and the retrogression of £6295 is due to (a) decrease in sales, (b) increase in working costs, (c) increase in overhead costs, rates, interest on Government loan, and legal costs. The principal changes in the balancesheet items are an increase of £11,944 in Government loan and: interest; -an increase of £1496 in the amount due to debenture holders, being interest unpaid. Sundry creditors show an increase of £2096, and sundry debtors an increase of £1412. Fixed assets show an increase of £3523—additions to plant and equipment.. The. death of Mr. A. E. Jull, who liad been a director of the company since 1928, is recorded with sincere regret, for the late Mr. Jull rendered valuable service to the company during his period of office. Mr. John K. Patterson was appointed director at last annual meeting. Messrs. Rowley, GUI, Hobbs, and Glen, auditors, offer themselves for reappointment. . .

Ngahere Gold l^redging, Ltd. (New Zealand), has beed added to the official list of the Sydney Stock Exchange. Both ordinary and deferred shares are quoted. J. C. 'Williamson', Ltd., theatre owners, Sydney, report a net profit of £21,669 for the year ended September 30, against £30,234 last year.
