I.R.A. MEN SENTENCED IN BELFAST
LONDON, November 23,
A Belfast Judge sentenced 24 young members of the Irish Republican Army to a total of 177 years' imprisonment.
The heaviest sentence was on Thomas Byrne, aged 20 years, who received 12 years' imprisonment for being in possession of a revolver. Byrne was wounded when attempting to escape after wounding a policeman.
Nineteen others received seven years' imprisonment each, and four others eight years on charges of treason.
