CUP TRIALS HELD

WEEKEND RESULTS

Although at present only the Cormvell Cup contest is definitely to be held this season, tho other three national sailing contests, for the Sanders, Idle Along, and Tauranga Cups, may be held, and at the weekend the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association began its trials to find its representatives for them. More races will be sailed nest weekend. Three races were held in the Sanders Cup trials, the winner of which will hold the Campbell Cup for a year. The leader is Tassie, of Pliramerton, skippered by M. Watson. She has two wins and a second. Results of the three races (one on Saturday and two yesterday) are as*1 follows:— First Race, (started at 3.5 p.m.).—Louie, 5h 39m 12s, 1; Tassie, 5s 39m 28s, 2; Delight, 3. The Aurora did not start. Second Race (started at 10.30 a.m.). —Tassie, 12h 37m, 15s, 1; Louie, 12h 37m 38s, 2; Delight, 12b. 37m 51s, 3. The Aurora did not finish. Third Race (started at 3.5 p.m.)—Tassie, 5h 4Gm 18s, 1; Delight, 5h 47m ss, 2; Louie, 5h 49m 3s, 3. The Aurora did not finish. A. F. Julian is skipper of the Louie and P. Millar of the Delight. Both are Evans Bay boats. The Aurora represents Muritai. THE IDLE ALONGS. Leading boats in the Idle Along contest are: Tornado (C. Stutter, H. Stutter, c; Gibson), 240 points; Riptide (E. Beck, M. Wilson, R. Gray) 199.9; Toroa (J. Hale H. Schurr J. Kilpatrick), 166.6; and Cavalier (C Gestro, B. Gestro, A. Canute), 149.9. Results are:— First Race (started at 3.15 p.m.).—Tornado, 4h 49m 4a, 1; Riptide, 4h 51m ss, 2; Toroa, 4h 51m 455, 3; Belvedere, 4; Cavalier, 5; Manon, C; Spitfire, 7 ; Elaine, 8; Elite, 9; Damflno 11, 10; Aloha and Revaleta did not finish. Second Race (started at 10.54 a.m.). —Tornado, 12h 42m, 2s, 1; Cavalier, 12h 45m 575, 2; Toroa, 12h 47m 28s, 3. Manon, 4; Rip-! tide, 5; Belvedere, 6; Aloha, 7; Damflno, 8; Revaleta, 9; Spitfire and Elite did not finish. Third Race (started at 3.15 p.m.).—Riptide, 4h 58m 235, 1; Toroa, 4h 59m 54e, 2; Cavalier, 5h 0m 445, 3. Tornado, Belvedere, Manon, AJoha, Damflno 11, Spitfire. Elite did not finish. CORNWELL CUP TRIALS. A series of races was called by Takapuna class boats at Evans Bay to enable the selectors, Messrs. B. J. L. Jukes and F. Mumford, to determine the provincial representatives. Results were:— First Race.—Scamper (Rough and Pearce), 1; Mercury (Miller and Gatland),, 2; Manahau (Hartley and Simmons), 3; Waitangi (Stutter and Wilson), 4; Torment (Petherick and Parker), 5. ■ Second Race.—Scamper {Petherick and Parker), 1; Mercury (Rough and Pearce), 2; Torment (Stutter and Wilson), 3; Waitangi (Hartley and Simmons), 4; Manahau (Miller and Gatland), 5. Third Race. —Manahau (Rough and Pearce), 1; Mercury (Petherick and Parker), 2 ; Scamper (Stutter and Wilson), 3; Manahau (Miller and Gatland), 4; Torment (Hartley and Simmons), 5. Fourth Race.—Scamper (Hartley and Simmons), 1; Waitangi (Rough and Pearce), 2; Torment (Miller and Gatland), 3; Manahau (Petherick and Parker), 4; Mercury (Stutter and Wilson), 5. Fifth Race. —Torment (Rough and P.earce), 1; Manahau (Stutter and Wilson), 2; Mercury (Hartley and Simmons), 3; Scamper (Miller and Gatland), 4; Waitangi (Petherick and Parker), 5. TAURANGA CLASS. Little Man (W. Wagstaff) won the only Tauranga race sailed at the weekend, on Saturday. The other entrants were Pee Wee (E. Ranish), The Pup (C. Gibson), Doreen (B. Casey), and Zeta (J. Casey).
