GREEKS EAGER
FINAL ASSAULT ON
EORITZA
FIERCE FIGHTING CONTINUES
(Received November 18, noon.)
LONDON, November 17.
The latest news from Athens is that fierce fighting is continuing at Koritza. A report of the capture of the town has reached Salonika, but Athens states that the Italians are still holding the mountain north-east of the town. The Greeks are so close that their officers have difficulty in restraining them from a final assault. The Italians are firing the town, only completing the work of the Greek heavy mountain artillery, which for three days has been shelling houses, barracks, and supply depots. Greek columns are reported to have reached the Albanian frontier at two points, from which they are able to control the two main roads from Albania to Greece and prevent reinforcements and munitions for the invaders.
