Wholesale prices in Great Britain, as measured by the Board of Trade monthly index number, were about 1 per cent, higher in October than they were in September. Aggregate increases since the outbreak oi the war are:—General index, 45| per cent.; food prices, 58& per cent;! . industrial materials and manufactured articles, 39 per cent. In the September, 1940, quotations, butter and cheese, and mutton and lamb are "imported," and household coal is not given, but "gas" quality is quoted.
