Pleading guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to having been in a state of intoxication while in charge of a car on Beach Road,- Paekakariki, on Saturday evening, Leslie Vivian Amos, aged 46, a labourer, was fined £25 by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., and his driving licence was cancelled for twelve months. He was convicted and discharged for resisting Constable W. Peters in the execution of his duty. Later in the morning Amos was convicted and discharged for having driven without a licence. He was allowed 14 days in which to pay his fine. Sub-Inspector G. H. Mr. J. S. Hanna said that Amos had an absolutely clean record, and he suggested a fine.
