NEWTOWN ZOO
CROCODILE DIES
BIRTH OF TIGER CUBS
The crocodile, the survivor of a pair shipped from Singapore to the Newtown Zoo a few weeks ago, has died. It was in a bad way. when it was landed but recovered after special feeding and seemed to have a fair chance. Visitors wanting to see it in livelier action than it usually showed lying in its enclosure annoyed it with j sticks and even lemonade bottles, and that treatment, coming on top of a bad start, was too much for it. The other animals from Singapore are doing well, particularly the attractive baby sun bears. The most recent arrivals are twins in the cage of the four-year-old tigress Yvonne. They were born two days ago. Special care is being given to the diet of the mother, for the last cubs born at the Zoo could not be reared by their mother because, the cuiator of the Zoo, Mr. CJ. Cutler, believes, of some dietetic deficiency on the part of the mother. The new cubs will probably not be seen by the public until about Christmas.
