LIAISON OFFICER ARRIVES

Major Cyril Bavin, 0.8. E., who has been appointed liaison officer to the British Children's Reception Committee in New Zealand by the Children's Overseas Reception Board, London, has arrived at Wellington from England, accompanied by Mrs. Bavin.

Major Bavin is to be attached to the office of the United Kingdom High Commissioner in Wellington, and is to confer immediately with members of the Government.

For many years Major Bavin has been associated with the V.M.C.A.,

London. In 1938 he passed through Auckland* after a visit to Australia, to confer with the Commonwealth authorities on details associated with the emigration of boys from depressed areas in England to Australia. Major Bavin has had considerable "experience in dealing with the problems connected with the welfare of young children.

This morning Major Bavin made a number of official calls.
