The Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb) will leave for the West Coast tomorrow. He expects to be away from Wellington for ten or twelve days.
The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) left for the south last night. He expects to return towards the end of next week.
Mr. Maurice Ralph has been appointed secretary and organiser by the executive of the Lower Hutt R.S.A. 50,000 Club, which is planning a jubilee carnival to be held in February.
Mr. R. W. Hawke has resigned from his position as Government representative or; the New Zealand Poultry Board.
After thirteen years as chairman of the Auckland Woolbrokers' Association, Mr. B. J. Marquet has resigned for health reasons, and Mr. F. G. Binney has been appointed his successor, states a Press Association message. Mr. Marquet was chairman during a period of wide fluctuations in values, including the depression years, and later when a remarkable recovery followed. The association has recorded appreciation of his valuable services. :
Mr. E. Caradus, Senior Inspector of Secondary Schools and Director of Educational Services, Royal New Zealand Air Force, was a passenger from Lytteltbn by the steamer express this morning.
Mr. W. R. Birks has been appointed Acting Crown Prosecutor in Wellington during the absence on military service of Colonel W. H. Cunningham.
