IMPORTANT STAFF CHANGES

A number of i changes in the staff of the Bank of New Zealand are pending as a result /mainly of retirements.

Mr. K. G. Hnme, staff inspector, is retiring from ' the bank's service on November 15' after a service of 44 years. Mr. HJume comes from a banking family, ins father having been the first manager of the Bank of New Zealand at tygaruawahia, which branch he opened in May. 1864. He was afterwards mans.ger at Hamilton for a number of years. Mr. Hume joined the Bank of New Zealand service at Hamilton on June 18, 1896. ' Shortly afterwards he was transferred to Auckland, where he remained tfor. a number of years. In June, 193.1, he was appointed manager at the Symonds Street branch, Auckland, QVid in January, 1914, he was transferred as manager to Kaitaia, which/ branch he opened. Mr. Hume served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the war of 1914-18 for three years. On his retuni to civilian life in 1919 he was appointed manager at Morrinsville. In July,' 1924, he was promoted to the position of sub-inspector, and in June, 1934 > ir he was transferred to head office as inspector in charge of the staff. Mr. Hume will be succeeded by Mr. E. C. Sacfe, inspector.

Other changes in the Bank of New Zealand staff include the retirement of/Mr. A. H. Baxter, manager, Marton, at the. end of November, after 34 years of service with the bank. He .will be succeeded by Mr. A. J. Petrie, at present manager at Hunterville.

.; Mr. D. S. Morris, manager at Kawhia, been appointed manager at Hun[terville, and he is succeeded by Mr. [A. C. McMillan, of the Auckland office.

It is'- also announced that Mr. G. E. Murphy and Mr. K. M. Qlliver, subinspectors, have retired, the former joining the bank staff in 1897. the latter in 1901.

Mr. J. B. L. Brown, manager at Eltham, has been appointed manager at Mangaweka in succession to the late Mr. Douglas Campbell.

Mr. Walter Hay, accountant at Timaru, has been appointed manager at Eltham. He is succeeded by Mr. G. W. Cuthall, of Timaru office.

Mr. W. A. Virtue, manager at Oxford, has been appointed an audit officer. He is to be succeeded by Mr. A. S. Bell, recently manager at Owaka.

Mr. J. A. W. Hamlin, manager at Waitara for the past 14 years, has also retired, being succeeded by Mr. H. G. Edwards, formerly of the Apia branch, Samoa.
