BOXING

HUTCHINSON BEATS RAYNER

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

PALMERSTON N., October 13

Clarrie Rayner, former New Zealand professional lightweight boxing champion, was knocked out by the American negro Johnny Hutchinson in the third round of a scheduled twelveround bout on Saturday night. It was the second occasion on which the contestants had met, the first being the Blenheim bout, in which Hutchinsoa was disqualified for fouling in the second round. In Saturday's bout Hutchinson lost no time in unleashing his battery of heavyweight punches and had Rayner down on several occasions before the New Zealander was counted out while making an effort to come back for more in the third round.
