In the course of this Lecture evidence will be produced to show that the true meaning of the Hebrew and Greek originais "Sheol," "Hades," and "Gehenna," translated in the Bible "hell" (50 times), "hellfire" (3 times), "grave" (32 times), and "pit" (3 times), is in perfect harmony with the definite teaching of the Bible; — (1) THAT "the wages of sin is DEATH" (Roms. 6:23, Gen. 2:17, Roms. 5:12, Eoms. 8:13, Gals. 6:8, Ezc. 18:4). The punishment for sin being "death," it follows that "everlasting punishment" is everlasting death (.Matt. 25:46, 2 Thess. 1:9, Psa. 37:20). (2) THAT there is no punishment AFTER DEATH for those who sin in IGNORANCE of the will and purpose oi God (Eoms. 2:12, Roms.* 4:15, Luke 13:3, Matt. 7:13, Psa. 49:20, Psa. SS:S, Prov. 21:16). (3) THAT ENLIGHTENED (i.e., responsible) sinners will receive then." punishment (for rejecting "the light" or not living in harmony with "the light") at Christ's second coming—they will then be resurrected from among the dead to "appear before the judguit'nt seat of Christ" (John 12:48, John 9:4], John 15:22, Hebs. 10:2(3-27, 2 Pater 2.20-22, John 5:22, 1 Cor. 4:5, 2 Tim. -i:7-8, Acts 24:15, D.-in. 12:2, J'{ f ;v. 11:18, Roms. 14:10, 2 Cor. o:10). I THAT the punishment of this class of sinner will be "shame" and '"contempt" as a result of rejection hy Christ, and, finally, "THE SECOND DEATH" (Dan. 12:2, Matt. 25:46, Matt. 22:13, Roms. 2:6-9, Phil. 3:19, 2 Thess. 1:9, Rev. 2:11).
