OTAGO'S CRICKET ATTITUDE

DUNEDIN, October 1

A meeting of the Otago Cricket Association tonight was unanimous in the opinion that Plunket Shield matches should not be played this season, and it was decided to recommend to the New Zealand Cricket Council that the programme be held in "abeyance for this season, but not necessarily for the duration of the war.

Along with this recommendation it was decided to suggest that the council should approve of the playing of lsome-and-home matches between major associations in each island. The secretary was instructed to open negotiation? with the Canterbury Association for home-and-away Otago-Canterbury matches.
