HAWKE'S BAY RACES
FIELDS AND PROSPECTS
The only racing in the Dominion for the remainder of the present week will be the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Spring Meeting at Hastings tomorrow and on Saturday. The fields for the opening day are of satisfactory dimensions in most of the events, and interest will be taken in the showings of a number of horses who have more important engagements ahead. The tracks at Hastings have had a deal of rain lately, and tomorrow's going is likely to be on the dead side. The betting will be under the singlepool system. It is disappointing to find only four acceptors for the principal event, the Spring Handicap, and there will be only a single dividend in this race. The distance race on Saturday should make a much better showing. The following horses promise-to be well supported:—
Hollycombe Hurdles.—High Peer, Son and Heir. Imperial Plate.—Singapore, Oragon. Hastings Stakes—Tetratina. Sandy Bay. Hastings Spring Handicap.—Master Cyklon. _. , , Epsom Handicap.—Morning Flight, Doctor Defoe. , Otane Hack Handicap.—Dainty Dell, Chandlery. .-.■•. . Homewood Flying Handicap.^—Heroic Maid, Vascones.
