CHEMISTS ALARMED

At a recent meeting of the Chemists' Service Guild attention was called to the proposed legislation to control shop hours throughout the Dominion under Clause 46 of the Statutes Amendment Bill, which the Prime Minister stated would be brought before the House again next session, possibly as part of another Bill. The following resolution was carried unanimously:— "That this meeting of the Chemists' Service Guild of New Zealand views with alarm and strenuously objects to the proposed shop legislation to compel the closing of shops on Saturday mornings and on Friday nights, particularly as it relates to chemists. Such restriction of medical service would cause grave inconvenience if not danger to the public health, and protest should be made in the strongest possible terms." Copies of the resolution have been sent to the Prime Minister and to the Wellington members of Parliament.
