The two -latter appointments' were made in 'answer-to widespread-dd-mands for dictators .to".deal-with" .the cumulative problems .of air-raid shelters and the increasingly^ chilly ;nights. Mr. Willink's powers 'cover '< every aspect of-people who ■ are. temporarily or permanently homeless, including the issuing of orders to local authorities. He is to: co-ordinate and-speed up evacuation* and rehousing. Sir Warren, FisherV'powers.are similarly farreaching, and' cover London's hundred and one authorities dealing with water, gas, electricity, telephones, sewerage, and road repairs.. . . , . . . , \.
