SURF LIFE-SAVING

WORSER BAY CLUB

There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Worser Bay Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club, held in the club room last evening. The president, Mr. W. H. Gerrie, presided.

The annual report slated that two of the members were overseas with the Forces, and flve were on Home Service. Six members gained the bronze medallion of the Royal Lifesaving Society and the New Zealand surf medallion.

The balance-sheet showed the finances of the club to be in a healthy position. The Wellington Swimming Association is to be asked not to impose a registration fee during (lie period of the war.

It was decided to invest £50 in the Government War Loan.

Trophies won during the season were presented by the president as follows:—Club championship, C. T. Jones; Blair Cup H Lane; Brodie Cup, J. \v. Newport; Itowntree Cup. V. L. Allan ; Allan Cup, A. Pearson ; Heath Memorial, C. McKnight; De Rose Memorial. P. Travers.

Mr. A. C. Kitto congratulated the successful competitors, and urged upon them the need for constant practice.

The election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr. Gerrie; president, Mr. V. L. Allan ; vicepresidents, the Hon. R. Seniple, M P Mrs. Heath, Messrs. P. M. Blakeney, K. Wilton, S. Brailsford, G. Charman, C. Dempsey, G. R. Green, A. C Kitto, F. J. Warring, F. Wilton, W. K. Lavelle. W. Vetori, H. Rowntree, the headmasters of the Worser Bay, Miramar Central, Seatoun, and Marist Bros. (Miramar) Schools, Messrs J W. Newport, W. Griffen, and the headmaster of Scots College; club captain, Mr. W. G Smith • secretary, Mr. B. Ivory; treasurer, Mr. C. T Jones; delegates to Wellington Swimming Centre. Messrs. W. H. Gerrie and C. T. Jones: delegates to Wellington Surf Association, Messrs. G. Turney, B. Ivory, and XV. G. Smith; delegates to Royal Life-saving Society, Messrs. \V. G. Smith and. J. Newport; hon. auditor, Mr. G. It. Green.
