CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES

The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association decided last night to open the Wellington championship competitions on October 19.

Johnsonville applied for reclassiflcation of C. K. Parsloe to enable dim to play in the club's second grade team It was pointed out that the transfer was not intended to assure Johnsonville of winning games, but to encourage interest In cricket In the district, the game at present suffering from competition from other sports. Parsloe's main role would be that of coach. The transfer was granted. The Railways and V.M.C.A. Chilis wrote stating that through enlistments, neither club would be able to Held more than one team this season. The committee agreed to waive Rule 36 to enable them to take part in the championship competitions. The resignation from the association of the Technical College Old Boys' Club owing to enlistments of members was received with regret. It was decided to approach the authorities with regard to an all-day match between a Treutham Camp team and Wellington representatives, on Labour Day.
