GILDO v. RAYNER.
The Wellington Boxing Association has staged some excellent contests this season but one of the brightest will be the bout between Young Gildo, the "Filipino Flash," and Clarrie Rayner, of Blenheim, at the Town Hall on Saturday night. These two popular lightweights, who have proyed outstanding in their division this season, can be depended upon to provide fast and thrilling boxing in which science will be mingled with hard hitting. Gildo has proved tog good this year for Jack Jarvis, the lightweight champion, while, on the results to date, he has been shaded by Rayner, although their last meeting resulted in a draw and showed that Gildo has figured out a way to handle the Blenheim boy successfully. In their previous Wellington bouts this year Gildo scored a convincing win against the highly-ranked Johnny Hutchinson, and Rayner put a quick finish to his bout wtih Jackie Sharpe, using one of the cleanest knock-out punches ever seen here. Amateur preliminaries will commence at 8 o'clock.
