INTERCESSORY SERVICE
Today's citizens' intercessory service in the Town Hall was not attended as well as usual, doubtless owing to the inclement weather. The first session was conducted by the Eev. E. Batts and the second by Mr. G. Junk, Mr. C. W. Kerry being at the organ, and a number of ministers and laymen assisting. Prayers were offered for the Empire in the present time of need, and. appropriate hymns were sung.
Speaking briefly .on "Britain's Strength," Mr. Junk remarked on the freedom enjoyed by people living in the British Commonwealth of Nations. The secret of this freedom and of Britain's strength lay in the fact that the founders of the British Empire had endeavoured to fulfil the Word of God. As their fathers had trusted in God. so did they at the present day, and if they turned to God He would deliver them.
