WEATHER STILL FAIR
RATHER WINDY
Special forecast for Wellington:— Moderate to strong north-westerly winds. Weather continuing fair and mild. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole is for winds from a westerly quarter. In the north they will be light to moderate in force, but in exposed positions from the Wellington Province southwards they will be strong at times. In Westland and Southland the weather will be cloudy with scattered rain, but elsewhere it will be mainly fair to fine, although occasional light rain is possible in western districts as far north as Taranaki. Temperatures will be moderate to mild, but in the south they will become cooler tomorrow.
A region of high pressure now extendi from eastern Australia to the north-east of the North Island, while a depression has moved on to the southern Tasman Sea. Except for sea breezes along the East Coast, light to moderate winds from a westerly quarter have predominated. Over most of the country the weather has been fair to fine and mild, but some scattered rain has fallen in the west and in the far south. Fog was very prevalent in Canterbury this morning.
All four main centres again had fair to fine weather yesterday. Dunedin •aad five points of rain last night, and there was a fog in Christchurch this morning. Wellington enjoyed 8.1 hours of bright sunshine yesterday. The maximum, temperatures of 63.7 degrees was the highest so far recorded this spring, the minimum being 50 degrees.
