LATE MR. A. E. JULL
MR. HAMILTON'S TRIBUTE
A tribute to the memory of the late Mr. A. E. Jull, member of Parliament for Waipawa, who died suddenly on Tuesday night, was paid last evening by the Leader of the Opposition (the Hon. Adam Hamilton). Mr. Hamilton attended the funeral this afternoon at Waipawa, and the Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb) represented the Government.
. "I was deeply shocked at the news of the sudden death of Mr. Jull," said .Mr. Hamilton. "Few men in New Zealand in local life and in public life generally . have rendered such outstanding service over a long period of years as had Mr. Jull. He was a recognised authority- on local body administration, and many years ago took a prominent part in the formation of the Main Highways Board. He will be greatly missed in the House of Representatives, where few will forget his trenchant but lively and genial style in debate. His views always commanded respect. The highest tribute can be paid to the extensive part he has played in the founding and shaping of public developments, both for his own district in Hawke's Bay and for the Dominion generally. I have lost a close personal friend and a staunch and outstanding member of my team. I extend my own personal sympathy and that of the Opposition to the members of his family."
