Leeston (natural flax only)- i Salaries up to £470 p.a., according to qualifications and experience. Factory Managers will supervise all activities at their respective units and be held responsible for efficient organisation and output. Knowledge of the processing of linen flax is not essential as .Managers will be given a course of. instruction before commencing duties. Preference will be given to applicants who have had experience in the handling of men, and the organisation of labour and who are regarded as capable of adjusting themselves rapidly to the management of a new industry. Knowledge of. machinery, tractors, factory management, and the handling of straw in the field would be regarded as of advantage. Applicants' may state preferences as to districts but, if so, it must be stated clearly whether the applicant is prepared to go to any centre "if called upon to do so, or whether his application is for one centre only and no other. The matter of procuring quarters or accommodation will be the responsibility of appointees. Successful applicants will be required to report in Christchurch on Monday, October 21, 1940, in order to undergo a course of training before taking up duties. They will be appointed to the Temporary Staff of the Industries and Commerce Department.
