The following is the official weather | forecast for the 24 hours from noon today:— Winds.—Over the North Island east' erly to northerly at first but with a change to westerly or south-westerly extending from the north; over the South Island southerlies prevailing. Force mainly moderate or fresh but strong in exposed positions in central districts. Seas.—Rather rough about Cook Strait and north of Farewell Spit; elsewhere slight or moderate. ' Weather.—Fair to fine over the Auckland Peninsula and in western, and far southern areas of. the South. Island but still unsettled over the rev mainder of the country with drizzle or rain, especially ill the central provinces. Conditions slowly improving from the north and west, however. Temperatures moderate in the north but cold in the south with some snow on ' the ranges. . SUN, MOON, AND TIDES.
