GRATITUDE GESTURE

"EVENING POST" FUND NEARING £4000 Appreciation of the "wonderful services being performed by the Royal Air Force," expressed by the Meat Producers' Board in a gift of £30.000 for planes, is the motive behind the contributions of the many firms and private individuals whose donations have added to the "Evening Post" fund. A remarkable feature of this fund is that it includes, with of course larger gifts, a great number of donations from persons of small or moderate means. Many of the donors have stated that they would like to give more, but they have sent what they could with warm messages for the success of the fund. In a total of nearly £4000 acknowledged in the "Evening Post" fund these donations of pounds and small sums represent a great company of well-wishers.

In Auckland the support of the mass of the people has been expressed by representative public bodies. The "Herald" fund today records the receipt of £1000 from the Metropolitan Fire Board. This is the third £1000 received from a public body, the others being from the Auckland City Council and the Auckland Harbour Board.
