NUMISMATIC SOCIETY

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Numismatic Society was held recently, when officers for the year wereelected as follows:—Patron, his Excellency Lord Galway; honorary life patron, the Rt. Horr. Viscount Bledisloe; president, Mr. Johannes C. Andersen; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. C. Entrican (Auckland), E. K. Cameron (Hawera), Archdeacon G. H. Gavin (New Plyjmouth), Messrs. S. R. McCallum (Waingahui). N. Soloman (Napier), Rev. D. C. I Bates, Mr. J. W. Heenan, C.M.G., Proifefsor J. Rankine Brown, Sir James !Elliott, Messrs. E. Gilbertson (Wellington), J; B. Ward (Hokitika), P. Watts I Rule- (Timaru.:. Mr. Willi Fels. C.M.G., Colonel G. Barclay (Dunedin), and Messrs. H. (3. Williams (Dunedin) and J. Robertson' (Invercargill); council, Messrs. H. G. Mayer, H. R. Ford, A. Quinnell, W. D. Ferguson, J. Berry; honorary treasurer, Mr. G. C. Sherwood; honorary secretary, Mr. Allan Sutherland; honorary assistant secretary. Mr. M. Hornblow; honorary auditor, Mr. W. Chetwynd.

In returning thanks for his re-elec-tion as president, Mr. Johannes Andersen said he always enjoyed attending meetings of the society, not only because of the friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere that prevailed, but also because of the good standard of the papers read and the vitality shown by the society in all matters relating to numismatics.

Good wishes for the continued success of the society were read from Viscount Bledisloe. Sir John Hanham, Bt. (who has rejoined his regiment in England), Mr. C. A. Priaulx (president, of the Numismatic Society of South Australia), Mr. J. Hunt Deacon (Adelaide), Mr. A. S. Kenyon (Melbourne). Messrs. Owen Fleming and C -7. V. Weaver (Sydney).

Mr. Hassell Martin read, a short paper on the Siamese tical. and Mr. W. D. Ferguson one on ihe Soho Mint.
