MR. BEVIN AND THE CONSERVATIVES
Mr. Ernest Bevin appears to have had an agreeable time among the Conservatives at the House of Commons when he addressed the 1922 Committee on the measures taken and contemplated by the Ministry of Labour to ensure, as it was put by the official statement, an adequate supply Of labour for essential industries, says the "Manchester Guardian." He v/as well received, and the meeting, appears to have taken to this brusque and downright trade union leader who even went so far a few days earlier as to talk about the chaos he and his colleagues had found in certain departments, observations which might have been expected to produce trouble for him when he came to meet Conservative supporters 'of the late Government.
