PATRIOTIC EFFORT NETS £50
The Wellington Licensed Victuallers' 'Association held its annual golf tournament on tlie Manor Park links recently, when some 70 players took part. Upwards of £50 was. raised for the National Patriotic Fund during the day. Results of competitions are :—- Retailers' championship: 3. L. Black: run-ner-up, J. Power. Cascade trophy: R. Berryman. Best gross score: J. L. Black, 73. The match between teams representing the wholesalers and retailers was won by the wholesalers by eight games to four. The follow-, ing won trophies for handicap, events:—-TV. Bryce, F. Dwyer, Mrs. Gordon, F. Yule, C. Larsen, A-. Candy, T. Fisher, T. Brennan, P. Wakeman, 3. Petley, E. Pearce, R. Goldfinch, E. Nicholson, D. Webster, J. Jones, H. James, T. Coltman, F. Young, A. J. Shaw, T. H. R. Boon. Women's prizes were -won by Miss Marjorie Adams and Miss Kate Kerr. Wooden spoon: D. Pepper.
