MOSES IN FINAL

CHRISTCHURCH, August 29,
The final game in the second round of the New Zealand amateur billiards championship between R. Carrick, Auckland, and W. J. O'Neil, Runanga, was played this morning. The titleholder, Carrick, was in his best form, and though O'Neill began confidently, won by 332 points.
S. Moses, Wellington, and T. Two- j hill, Greymouth, met m the semi-final. J Both players gave pleasing displays, and it was not till the closing stagesj of the game that Moses asserted his j superiority. Twohill did not play as solidly as on Wednesday. !
After one of the most interesting and exciting games, Carrick lost his title when he was beaten by A. E. Redmond, Gisborne, who, from start to finish, played a sound, solid game.
Results are:—Carrick 666, with breaks of 42, 53, 79, and 57 unfinished, beat O'Neill, 334, with breaks of 33, .35, and 46; Moses, 666, with breaks of 31, 36, 36, 38, 39, 40, 72, and 62 unfinished, beat Twohill, 509, with breaks of 33, 30, and 47; Redmond, 666, with breaks of 30, 35, 42, 45, 52, and 69, beat Carrick, 622, with breaks of 36, 37, 43. and 49.
The final of 1500 up between Moses and Redmond will be played in two sessions of 750 points, beginning tonight and concluding tomorrow night.
