SALEM (Oregon), August 28,

Senator C. L. McNary, in a speech in which he accepted nomination as the Republican candidate for the Vicepresidency, said: "In common with what I believe to be the overwhelming majority of our countrymen, I oppose involvement in foreign military adventures. America as always pr.efers peace, but not a peace of appeasement.

. "The existence of aggressive despots in Europe is not new to our experience. We are not a docile people, and we propose to work out "our destiny in our own terms."
