ALL STEPS TAKEN
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Received August 29, 2 p.m.) LONDON, August 28. A message from Vichy states that the Petain-Laval Government has confirmed the outbreak of "a Britishinspired rebellion" in France's African empire. It is stated that a revolt has i»roken out in French East Africa but "all necessary dispositions have been taken to localise the situation." A communique declared that the situation arose when the Chad military Governor, Colonel De la Rima, went to British West Africa, after making contact with General de Gaulle. It was not made clear whether the Chad: rebellion had spread to other regions. The Havas news agency reports from Vichy that the French Government has taken measures to deal with the situation in Chad.
