BORSTAL FOR SOLDIER

Samuel Leo Brunning, a farm labourer and soldier, aged 19, of Fort 'Dorset, pleaded guilty in th# Magis» trate's Court yesterday to sixteen charges of stealing sums of money ranging from £3 10s to 2s, and was. sentenced to eighteen months' detention in a Borstal institution. The police said Brunning joined the Army on January 25 and ever since he had carried on systematic thieving from - hia room-mates. He had twice been dealt with by the military authorities for theft, being court-martialled on the last occasion, and he had twice been before the Court before.
