LIMITED EXPRESS
SOLDIERS ON LEAVE
MEMBER'S ASSERTION
The assertion that the Railway Department had demanded payment from a number of soldiers on final leave who travelled by the Limited express when returning to camp was made by Mr. W. A. Bodkin (National, Central Otago) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. He said that these, men were provided with unconditional passes on the railways and- that those who refused to pay the fare -had now been notified that the sum demanded would be deducted from their military pay. Mr. Bodkin gave notice of his intention to ask the Minister of Railways if it was the policy of the Government to demand payment from soldiers on final leave from camp who travelled by the Limited express.
