OLD TUNES REVIVED.

One of the high lights of the London Phoenix Theatre revue, "Come Out to Play" (by Eddie Pola and Peter Watson), was an impersonation of an old music-hall favourite, Vesta Tilley. Miss Tilley's immaculate costumes were always a delight to see, and some critics objected to the fact that instead of the khaki uniform worn by the star, a soldier-song was given in the pink uniform of an American bell-

hop! The leading members of the cast were Sonnie Hale and his wife, Jessie Matthews. Old favourites revived in new style were such well-sung numbers as "She Was One of the Early Birds and I Was One of the Worms," a ditty popular in 1895; "Tarara-boom-de-ay";' "Lily of- Laguna" (Eugene Stratton's perennial); "Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me a Bow-wow"; and other oldtime favourites.
