JEROME KERN SCORE
Jerome Kern, in his first engagement at Universal since the film version of "Show Boat" in 1936, has written an original musical score for "Riviera," a newly-planned starring vehicle for Allan Jones. One of the nation's foremost composers, Kern ha. c numerous Broadway and screen musicals to his credit, and won the Academy. Award in 1936 for his hit-melody, "Thr. Way You Look Tonight," from "Swinj.; Time." Dorothy Fields will write the ;yrics for Kern's music in "Riviera." 'Riviera." a pretentious comedy wit! music, will be based on the novel 'Love Insurance." by Earl Derr Big ;ers, and i. screen play by Leonard spigelgass and Charles Grayson. Pro Uiction is scheduled to starts aftei Tones completes a previous commitment at Paramount. Meanwhile, the •inging star is enacting one of the oading . roles at Universal in Jules -*evey's initial Mayfair production, The Boys From Syracuse."
