"THE MIDDLE WATCH."
"The Middle Watch," the most successful comedy ever written w^th a Service background, is now being released in New Zealand. Lan Hay and Stephen King Hall's touch extracts much fun from dizzy doings, -aboard one of his Majesty's ships on an Eastern Station in peace time. To use the harassed commander's own words, two young ladies are "left over" from an afternoon party and are obliged to stay the night.. During the middle watch, midnight to 4 a.m., the first Admiral comes aboard and a first-class row is in the making. Jack Buchanan as the captain does some dexterous work and saves the situation, the development provides one long laugh. Greta Gynt and Kay Walsh are the ladies, and Fred Emney the crusty admiral. Some of the laughs come from Reginald Purdell and Leslie Fuller as corporal and marine sentry, who are called on to display super-tact in the execution of their duties while the fun is going on. "The Middle Watch" is a British Empire Film release.
