GENERAL RESERVE

MEN WHO ARE SEPARATED

On behalf of the member for Napier (the Hon. W. E. Barnard), Mr. J. A. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey Lynn) asked the Minister of National Servic- (the Hon. R. Semple), in an urgent question in the House of Representatives yesterday, whether a married man separated from his wife under mutual agreemen|fejor deed was deemed to be unmarried for the purposes of paragraph five of the General Reserve classification order.

Mr. Lee pointed' out that such a man wav not judicially separated and there was always a prospect—in many cases a desirable one—that the parties would come together again.

The Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb), on behalf of Mr. Semple, said that the answer to the question was "No."
