(Received August 28, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, August 27.

The mercantile shipping losses during the week ended Avigust 18 were 10 British ships, totalling 41,175 tons, one Allied ship of 7590 tons, and two neutral ships totalling 4134 tons.

The tonnage sunk was slightly above the weekly average since the outbreak of the war.

It is stated authoritatively that the German claim to have sunk a destroyer of the Viscount class is untrue.
