RAIDS ON LONDON
SOME BOMBS DROPPED
THE PUBLIC CALM
LONDON, August 27.
For the second night in succession German planes have been over many parts of England and Wales. London had ttvo air-raid warnings, and raiders were also reported over many towns in Wales, in the southwest, in the north-east, and in the Midlands. One plane dropped a number of incendiary bombs-in the London area. Some fell on waste ground and did no damage; others caused a fire, which was quickly put out. Over one north-east town enemy aircraft swooped low and machinegunned indiscriminately. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright.) (Received August 28, 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, August 27. Audiences in theatres and cinemas again took the air-raid warning calmly. Most of the shows went on normally and no patrons left for the shelters. Many Londoners are much more adequately prepared for a night away from their homes.
Later.
