VISIT TO BERLIN

SECOND IN 24 HOURS

DAMAGE IN GERMANY

CIVILIAN MORALE

'By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)

LONDON, August 27,

British Bombers were over Germany again last night, and the people of Berlin were, sent to their shelters for the seconds time in 24 hours.

The German news agency says that one plane flew over the city, but no bombs were dropped.

An American: correspondent says that Berlin's air-raid alarm lasted 36 minutes, but no gunfire was heard in the centre of the city.

The alarm was mentioned by the representative of the Columbia broadcasting network when speaking to the United States. He said that after Sunday night's raid by the Royal Air Force on the Berlin area three streets have been roped off, but no one is. allowed near enough to see why. Fresh evidence of the effect which the Royal Air Force raids on Germany are having is given in an agency message from the German frontier this afternoon. The information, which comes direct from the Rhineland,. confirms reports that British bombers have caused very heavy damage to important military objectives, including factories and canals. Civilians are feeling the effects of the raids,, and most people in Cologne go to bed at 6 o'clock in order to get some sleep before the raids start.
