FIRST-AID PLANES
THE GERMAN NOTE TO
BRITAIN
LONDON, August 27.
The German Note threatening reprisals if attacks continue against German first-aid planes detailed alleged attacks on July 6, 11, 20, 27, and 28. As an instance, it alleges that two British fighters on July 27 shot down a German ambulance seaplane which was attempting rescues. One member of the crew was later saved and the remaining four were missing. The Note claims that ambulance planes are in the same category as hospital ships. It concludes: "The German Government will reply to the British action with measures deemed to be appropriate."
