CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING
In the absence of the president, the vice-president, Mrs. L. H. Wright, presided at the annual meeting of the Wellington Model Aeroplane Club, whic& attracted a large attendance of memThe annual report stated that the membership was slightly below that ol the previous year, but 90 per cent, or the members were active. Hataitai Park had been abandoned, _as the regular flying ground, except for testing purposes, and competitions had been confined to the outings and picnics arranged by the club. An arrangement had been made with the Public Works Department for flying rights over the emergency landing ground at Paraparaumu, which offered unlimited possibilities for power-driven models. , , Members of the club who had enlisted were:—F. J. Brown, P.-Burke, J. Grinrod, H. Hudson, J. G. McGuire, G. Henderson, N. Milligan, P. Beales, J. Findlayson, J. Whatley, and D. S. Marsden. Officers were elected as follows:— [Patron, Group Captain T. M. Wilkes; [president, Mr. G. A. McDougall; vicepresidents, Mrs. 1.. H. Wright and Mr. F Maylet: management committee, i Messrs. A. W. Pearce, V. Walters, C. iWoolf, H. E. Righton; club captain, Mr. L. H. Wright; secretary, Mr. E. J. Thornley. ... ~ Sapper F. J. Brown (now with the First Echelon), was elected the first life member of the club. Mr. H. E. Righton, after occupying the office of club captain for the past four years, did not seek re-election. Mr E W. Ombler, chairman of the New Zealand Model Aeroplane Association, presented the certificates and trophies won during the year. These included the Para Cup for the champion club; the Squadron Cup to the club champion, E. J. Thornley; and the F. J. Brown Cup to H. A. Finney, di«trict petrol model champion.
