ROTARY'S YEAR
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Active membership in the Wellington Rotary Club, says its annual report, is 130. During the year eight members were lost through death or resignation, and five new members were elected. Mention is made of the death of Mr. A. Carson, who had only been a member for two years. The honorary members re-elected were the Bishop of "Wellington, the Hon. Mr. Justice Smith, and Sir George Troup. Mr. V. Jones, now with the New Zealand troops in Egypt, was added to the list of honorary members. The average attendance of members throughout the year was 75.43 per cent. Six members attended every luncheon.
The report continues: "The club has again been honoured by the renomination of Mr. David Ewen as district governor for the ensuing twelve months. Because of the difficulties entailed by war conditions, it was found impossible for any fresh nominee to attend the International Convention and Assembly, and the further sacrifice that Mr. Ewen is making in continuing in office for another year is greatly appreciated throughout the clubs in the district.
"The income received from the J. R. McKenzie Youth . Education Trust for the first year amounted to £69, and was allocated by. the special committee
of the trust for the assistance of several under-privileged boys. An amount of £216 has since been received, being the income for the past twelve months, and further applications for the expenditure of that sum are now being invited."
Officers elected for the next year are:—President, Mr. F. R. Jones; vicepresident, Mr. A. A. Cramond; ser-geant-at-arms, Mr. V. M. Edgar; honorary treasurer, Mr. W. H. Earnshaw; honorary secretary, Mr. D. H. Taylor; executive secretary, Miss F. M. Low; directors, Messrs. E. C. Magee, H. G. Mayer, W. McLay, J. P. Phillips, J. C. Riddell, and H. S. Wilkinson.
