Women's Organisations Report Much Activity — Street Day Appeal on Friday — School Holidays Dance Tomorrow.
Residential Nursery.
Mrs. A. B. Gibbons, who presided at the recent executive meeting of the Residential Nursery,, gave an. interesting account of the special effort for the nursery at Khandallah. The treasurer, Mrs. Ross, acknowledged monetary donations from branches and appreciation was expressed of gifts of toys, clothing, and baby chairs to the nursery. The matron reported a busy month and the secretary, Miss Sheppard, described some of the cases admitted. At the management committee's, meeting, at which Mrs.. Porter presided, the . work done by various branches was reported and many gifts acknowledged.
Public Trust Staff Ball. Men of the Forces were among the many guests at the annual ball of the Public Trust Office which was held on Friday in the Mayfair Cabaret. The guests numbered over 200. Mrs. C. J. Playne was hostess, and wore a graceful gown of black, mariette trimmed with silver sequins. There was an enthusiastic committee which comprised Miss N. Carman, hon secretary (who wore a frock of black georgette and a gold embroidered coatee), Mrs. A. J. Sewan, Miss L. Avery, and Messrs, C. L. Jackson (treasurer), F. E. Quayle, T. Gillick, and G. Duncan.
