WAIKATO RACING CLUB
"From the annual statement of accounts for the year ended July 31, 1940, it will be seen that the club has had another successful year," states Mr. F. R. Seddon. president of the Waikato Racing Club, in his report to be presented at the annual meeting of the club on August 31. Mr. Seddon said that, after providing for depreciation, the profit, amounting to £2451, had been transferred to the accumulated fund account.
Stakes distributed for the year amounted to £15,892 and Government taxation to £27,765. The increase in taxation was accounted for by the withdrawal by the Government of the 1 per cent, rebate on totalisator turnover, which had been allowed clubs for years. Mr. F. R. Se.ddon and Mr. A. Miller, being the only nominees for the offices of president and vice-president respectively, and Messrs. H. D. Caro, P. G. Harkness, W. T. C. Christie. O. M. Monckton, G. J. Peach, and A. E. Sandford being the only nominees for the offices of six committeemen, they would be declared elected.
