PETONE RAILWAY CROSSING

Another accident at the Petone crossing last evening draws attention to the poor state of the crossing. At 6.25 p.m. a car travelling from the esplanade towards the city turned into the cattle stops and was extensively damaged. A train was delayed for. a short period while the car was being removed from the line. No one was injured. , The police of the district have urged for some time that something should be done towards improving the crossing. The lighting is not of the best, and the line of the Hutt Road is hot easy to pick up at times after dark, particularly when approaching traffic is being faced.
