The performance of the teams in the PetonePoneke match was fairly well. represented by the margin of difference in the scoring. Petone showed, up as the better side on the day, though they found the Poneke defence hard to penetrate. Petone won by 16 points to 3. Halnes, Barton, and Mallett scored tries for Petone; Mallett converted two and kicked a penalty goal. V. Calcinai kicked a penalty goal for Poneke.
